Day Two: Proverbs 31 Woman Deep Dive Devotional. Proverbs Woman Guide
“She finds wool and flax and busily spins it. She is like a merchant’s ship, bringing her food from afar. She gets up before dawn to prepare breakfast for her household and plan the day’s work for her servant girls.” Proverbs 31:13-15
Here we have an example of the Proverbs 31 Woman being Resourceful.
In this passage, we see the Proverbs 31 woman working with wool and flax, two raw materials that she transforms into something new. Wool is used to keep warm, while flax produces linen, a fabric often used in hotter seasons. No matter the time of year, she ensures her household is well cared for, showing her preparedness and foresight!
We also read that she rises early to prepare food for her family. By the time her household wakes, everything they need has already been thoughtfully provided. Her leadership and care extends beyond her husband and children, she also provides for, and leads her team of servant women. This reflects her ability to manage her home with both wisdom and compassion.
One thing I want us to consider, is that our “wool and flax” may look different. We’re all on different pages and different seasons. Some of us are balancing work and home life, running a business, caring for our families, or furthering our educations. It’s important to understand that your life doesn’t have to mirror the scenes and descriptions of the Proverbs 31 Woman, but rather her heart, which is a reflection of CHRIST.
Find your wool and flax and steward them, sister!
God calls us to be resourceful with our talents. (Matthew 25:14-30)
God calls us to be prepared! (Matthew 25:1-13)
Prayer:
Heavenly Father, thank you for you presence in my life. Lord, I ask that you would open my eyes to see the tools and skills you have so graciously blessed me with. Lord grant me wisdom on how to be resourceful. Lord help me steward my gifts so that I can help those around me, and bring glory to your name. Thank you for all that you do Lord, in Jesus name, Amen.
